What It's Like to be a Courier Couple

“We never thought we would be rock climbing, paracending and white water rafting in our mid 50's in the French Alps but we were and this was thanks to our role as campsite couriers with Canvas Holidays.

We’d brought up a family and decided this was our time to enjoy life.  We’d always traveled around Europe on camping holidays with the children and had met lots of great people.  On one such holiday we got talking to a couple who were working for Canvas as campsite couriers who loved what they did and suggested we try it.  We decided to look at it once the children had all grown up and I’m glad we did as we have now worked 4 seasons with canvas holidays in a variety of locations and it truly is the best job in the world.

Where else can you get up in the morning to glorious sunshine, spend your day in the fresh air, up and down site.  You meet some fantastic people both customers and other couriers and get the opportunity to dine al fresco every day.  You get to sample new cultures, good food and of course the odd bottle of wine and visit places you’d only ever dreamed of.  We’ve been to Rome, Florence, Venice, the French Alps and a variety of others too.
The thing we loved about Canvas was that the managers and office staff were all really friendly and would do anything they could to help you. You were made to feel like an individual, whenever we phoned the office they always knew who we were which was really reassuring both during the season and before we went.

Don’t worry about not having reams and reams of qualifications as they concentrate more on experience, attitude and willingness to learn.  They provide in-depth training to ensure you have all the knowledge you need for the job and you have a great support network once you are out on site from the area manager to the office staff.

Being a courier couple is a bit like being a competitor in "I'm a Celebrity get me out of here" but without Ant and Dec it’s challenging and great fun, in fantastic surroundings and we recommend anyone gives it a try, who knows where you could be going next year, as for us we are heading back to Italy and are already looking forward to the places we will visit on our time off.  Just think all that lovely Italian food again."
